Why It's Better I Stay Busy

Did I really just sit for 1:55 minutes and watch this?
(Although I did skip forward a tad) Lily really does make hair flipping seriously glamorous.
If I did this my boyf would just complain that my hair was hitting him in the face.
Not a sexy image.

Really?

Just to make sure that everyone knows the residents of this house love Louis Vuitton...

In the Distance

Realizing I left without typing a word, I'm reporting live from the EU. Posting has come to an immediate halt but hopefully (especially since French keyboards are way to frusturating to use) once I return I'll have lots of fun photos to share from my new lovely camera :) Until then, au revoir!

Party Like It's 1999

image: thecobrasnake
It's cram time, ladies and gentlemen. Tuesday, or as I'm referring to as Hellday, will demand 12 straight hours of exams. Hard exams. Exams that I'm v. not prepared for. So, to keep me chugging along through the next few days I've decided that Hellday evening will be a time for serious celebration. Serious. Hopefully, after successful exam taking, successful celebration will take place. Just to make sure, I hope we all end up looking like this. Cause it looks like she was seriously celebrating.

Beauty and the Beast

images: theselby
Having grown up in a house where fairytales meant much more than bedtime stories, fairytales have always held a special meaning for me. They've showed me what love can look like, helped foster my imagination and taught me that dreams can always come true. Sure it sounds cheesy and probably makes me out to be the subject of some psychotherapy study (hehe, can you tell I go to CAL Berkeley?), but truly, I love fairytales. As a child, one of my favorites was Beauty and the Beast because, amongst many, many reasons, Belle was not only beautiful but intelligent and loved the library as much as I did! Since then, I have always dreamed of having a room in my (dream) house dedicated solely as a library. My own personal collection spanning so high towards the ceiling, I'd need a special rolling ladder to reach them all.
These photos from the home of Sofía Achával and Thibault de Montaigu (stylist and author perpectively) remind me of this very dream. Oh, just the thought...

Rise and Shine

image: baytobreakers
This Sunday marks the 98th annual Bay to Breakers race in San Francisco. It's wacky and wild San Franciscan reputation that precedes it is nothing compared to actually experiencing the madness. I have participated in this Bay Area tradition for 17 years already and have no plans of stopping. So how about you get dressed up, put your walking shoes on, grab some beer and come join the party! See you there!

Warning: Possible Self-Esteem Destruction Follows

images: lefashion
Having been a sick, festering pile of flu--and thank god not that nasty Swine everyone's up in kahoots about--I have been absent from the fashion world and have not even managed to lift a copy of Vogue for more than 2 seconds (and if you know me at all, I spend days to get through one of those bad boys). What I have managed to do, however, is eat. Eat to my heart's content. But only to my heart's. My poor belly hates my guts. Literally. Sad story, but true. So, now finally returning my gaze to the world of fashion also means returning my gaze to a world of beauties who have surely not spent the last 7 days eating every form of bread possible. Hence the title of this post. But now I am back so hopefully this binge will be through. Again, hopefully.

As dearest Karl says, "fashion is the healthiest motivation for losing weight."

Hometown

image: nytimes
The NY Times online travel section (an absolute fav of mine) decided to show my hometown some love. This thrills me for sure as Oakland is not usual seen as a vacation destination--as its often rough and sometimes unfair reputation gets around--but I must say that it probably could have done a better job. Maybe this will be a future task to take on for myself...hmm. Just a thought.

Monday Follows Suit

For one of the first times in a long time, I had absolutely zilch planned for my weekend. Typically, being my psycho-stressed self, there is always something I must get done or something else I've tied myself to. So this past weekend, although I was constantly on the move, was completely void of my usual weekend stress. I woke up late (10am is my version of late), hung with the fam, accompanied my sis to see A Mid-Summer Night's Dream, read Interview and realized that I do actually really like Mary-Kate Olsen. Quite satisfactory if I might say.

Randoms

Just some random shots from weekends past. Driving across the Golden Gate with my sis on a warm Sunday...considering she usually gets her hand on fabulously fancy cameras, I think she faired well with my rinky single shot. Next, just an outfit I wore to a special event party at Mr. Smiths on 7th in the city.
BCBG heels, F21 Silk Jumpsuit, Free People bralette and vintage gold leaf earrings.
